Singing Star Discovery now on its 4th year

Three couples collaborate to make sure that Singing Star Discovery continues what it had started 4 years ago – to search, to train, and to launch the singing careers of the local vocal talents.

Philanthropist-couple Bert and Anita Orinion of Hawaii donate the maintenance cost for the entire duration of the elimination rounds to be held every Saturday October 25 to December 27. Engineer Eddie Laguit and wife Noemi, who is also a candidate for Ms Town Fiesta 2009, provide for the sound system. Former Mayor Art Chan and Mayor Emma will take charge of the prizes to be given away during the Grand Finals.

Singing Star Discovery, now on its fourth year, is open only for Pozorrubians, purposely to discover raw talents from among its own young and not so young ones. It is apportioned into 3 categories: the Bulilit portion for children up to age 14; the Main portion for ages 14 to 35, and; the Pwede Pa Kami for the 36 years of age to beyond. Grand Finals is scheduled on the 2nd week of January, during the Pozorrubio Town Fiesta 2009.

The 3 couples (the Orinions, the Laguits, the Chans) are assisted by the working committee composed of  Engr. Amerigo Garcia, Engr. Joel Desamito, Engr. Orly Guillermo, Rolando Igoy, Jess Paras, Art Caparas, Joe de Leon, Bernie Calpito, Ben Pacites, Rey Garcia,  Rene Balangue, Roger Ronquillo, Jaime Palaroan and Remegio Morales.

The sponsors and the working committee wish that the singing star discoveries of this year follow the steps of the former grand prizewinner Juvylene Sarabia who emcees the talent search now and then. She is now a regular singer/soloist on stage with the Cojuangco’s  EC Jammers, and aims to reach even bigger and higher stages of distinction and prominence.
