Mother and child take center stage

It does not take long for tradition to set in. It has come to pass that the observation of July as Nutrition Month is now expected to end with a culminating program participated in by almost all sectors of the municipality.

On July 29, there were the usual speeches extolling the virtues of good parenting with this year’s theme: Sa wastong nutrisyon ni Mommy, siguradong healthy si Baby”. Mayor Emma T. Chan delivered the Inspirational Talk, Vice Mayor Reynaldo P. Reyes gave the Welcome Address, Councilor Salud P. Aldana expounded on the nutrition and health message as chairman of the Committee on Health, Sanitation and Nutrition, and Councilor Romeo Gomez of the Committee on Agriculture, delivered the Closing Remarks.  MSWO Ms. Joy Jo Ann N. Veniegas presented the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee and the participants in the event.

The messages were kept short though, as though the speakers agreed prior to the deed, to give more time for community participation – the competition among the locals, mostly among the young ones, their schools (public and private) and their mothers.       

Ms. Bernadita T. dela Rosa, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer laid out the mechanics and orientation of the various contests, while Municipal Accountant  Ms Marita P. Laguerta introduced the board of judges.
